Call for PapersRisk Theory Society Annual Seminar April 20-22, 2007

Penn State University

University Park, PA

The Risk Theory Society will hold its annual seminar on April 20-22 , 2007 at Penn State University in University Park, PA.   The Risk Theory Society is a group of economists, financial economists, and actuaries who undertake theoretical and applied research in the areas of insurance economics, financial economics related to insurance markets, actuarial science, and, more generally, in the economic analysis of risk and uncertainty . Membership in the Society is earned by presenting a paper at the yearly Risk Theory Society Seminar. The Risk Theory Society invites interested parties to submit a paper for the 2007 meeting. Authors of selected papers present their research to the members in a seminar setting. Historically, the seminar has been thought provoking and the “no holds barred” approach has allowed for rigorous discussion of an author’s findings. Five-page abstracts (or a rough draft of a paper) on any relevant topic should be e-mailed by December 15th, 2006 to:

Professor Larry CoxUniversity of MississippiE-mail: lcox@bus.olemiss.edu

The program committee will notify successful authors by January 15th, 2007. Papers must be completed and sent to all seminar participants by March 15th. Financial support for travel (North American portion only) for one author per paper is available. For more information, please contact Professor Cox or visit the Risk Theory Society web site at http://aria.org/rts.  For details regarding the local arrangements for the 2007 Seminar, please visit the web site or contact Professor Keith Crocker at kcrocker@psu.edu

Please see attached document for a Research Director, The National Alliance Research Academy in Austin, Texas, position available.  This announcement will also be posted on the ARIA website.

Job Openings and Resumes Looking for a job?  Have a position opening you want to announce at ARIA’s 2006 annual meeting? A loose leaf binder will be available at the registration desk to insert your resume or place information about a job opening.  Use this convenient service to locate a job or fill a position.  Any announcement or job opening should first be approved by Anne Kleffner, Chairperson of the Placement Committee.  Anne’s email address is anne.kleffner@ucalgary.ca Please three-hole punch each announcement.  Meeting attendees should furnish their room number on the announcement. Those who are unable to attend the annual meeting should still email their resume or job opening to Anne and a second copy to the ARIA Executive Office at aria@cpcuiia.org no later than August 1.

Hotel reservations and information Please make your hotel reservations for the annual meeting before July 4.  After July 4, attendees may still request rooms based on hotel availability and will be charged the Capital Hilton prevailing rate and not the ARIA negotiated rate. You can make a room reservation through a link on ARIA’s website at http://www.aria.org/. Please be sure to book early and help ARIA fill its room block so that we will not be charged attrition.

A room cancellation is refundable up to 72 hours in advance of the attendee arrival date.  A meeting attendee who checks out prior to the reserved checkout date will be assessed an early departure fee of $75.  Please advise the Hilton of any change of plans at check-in or before, so that you will not be charged this fee.
