 University of Waterloo The University of Waterloo, Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Actuarial Science, and a limited-term (two years) position as a Lecturer.  Please see the attached documents for additional information.

 

 In Memoriam We are sorry to announce that John S. Bickley, professor emeritus of the University of Alabama passed away at the age of 90 on October 12 at his home in Tuscaloosa.  Services will be held on Thursday, October 16 at the First Presbyterian Church. John’s wife, Mary Louise preceded him in death.  He is survived by his brother George (Fredericksburg, VA), a sister Jean Buckley Houston (Renton, VA), and his daughter Mary Naismith (Smyrna, GA). In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, PO Box 20001, Tuscaloosa, AL 35402.  John was a member of the Symphony’s Board of Directors. John was President of ARIA in 1962.  In 1957, he was a founder of the Insurance Hall of Fame, and in 2002 an endowed chair was established at the University of Alabama in his honor.  John also was a founder and director of the International Insurance Society Inc.

 RMI, Academic, Research, and Professional Positions Posted on ARIA website As a service to its members, ARIA provides a webpage to serve as a clearinghouse for job and career opportunities at academic, research, and professional institutions around the world geared toward individuals holding a Ph.D. related to risk management, insurance, actuarial science, and economics/finance. There are a large number of job openings posted on the ARIA website.  Please review these positions and advise the Executive Office if a particular position has been filled so it can be removed. The guidelines for posting job announcements on the ARIA website are: 

  • All job postings must be submitted in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) or Microsoft Word format.  Files not prepared in either of these formats will be returned with a request to create the correct format. Please send the electronic file to Nat Pope at npope@ilstu.edu for posting.
  • Jobs without a substantial academic or research component will not be posted.  If you are unsure about the category, please email Nat Pope for further consideration.
