APRIA 2008 Annual Meeting Call for Papers I am writing to invite you to join the Asia-Pacific Risk & Insurance Association (APRIA). Among the many benefits are:
v International Exchange of Ideas. APRIA members come from major Asia-Pacific countries, so the annual meeting provides an international audience for your scholarship, as well as providing a place to learn about the work of those in Asia. The Asia-Pacific region is becoming increasingly important for the world insurance market.
v Professional Networking. A broad membership base allows members to make connections with other academics and professionals from all over the Asia-Pacific region and indeed throughout the world. APRIA members represent more than 25 countries from four continents.
v Developing Academics in Other Countries. The annual meeting provides an outlet for young and developing scholars to learn about insurance research and to develop relationships that can promote their careers. The association provides support for this development.
v The Asia-Pacific Journal of Risk and Insurance. Members receive our journal, and an increase in membership will help make the journal more attractive to publishers. The journal presents publishing, reviewing, and editorial opportunities as well.
This is a good time to join APRIA because we are preparing for our next annual meeting in
Sydney,
Australia, July 6-9, 2008. The 2008 Call for Papers is attached and can also be accessed at: https://www.scicollege.org.sg
Visa needed to attend ARIA’s Annual Meeting? Anyone needing an invitation letter in order to secure a visa to attend this year’s annual meeting August 3-6 in Portland Oregon should submit a request in writing at your earliest convenience. Please send the request to aria@cpcuiia.org
United Airlines changes checked baggage policy
Last week United Airlines announced a change in its checked baggage policy. Effective May 5, customers who purchase nonrefundable domestic economy tickets and do not have elite status in Mileage Plus or Star Alliance may check one bag for free and a second bag for a $25 service fee. Prior to this change, domestic passengers had a free allowance for two checked items.
