 Special Edition of The Journal of Risk and Insurance Call for Papers A special edition of The Journal of Risk and Insurance will be devoted to microinsurance.  Papers presented at the 5th International Microinsurance Conference in Senegal on November 3-5, 2009 will be considered for this special edition. The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2009.  Please see the attached document for additional information or visit the website at www.microinsuranceconference2009.org

 

 Asia-Pacific Journal of Risk and Insurance (APJRI)  Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association has appointed Michael Powers, Professor of Risk Management and Insurance at Temple University in Philadelphia and Distinguished Visiting Professor of Finance with Tsinghua University in China as the new Editor for the Asia-Pacific Journal of Risk and Insurance.  Please see the attached document for information on the APJRI Call for Papers.

 

 Westran Insurance Scholarship Foundation The Westran Insurance Scholarship Foundation was established in 1990 with a commitment to encourage and promote education in the insurance industry by awarding scholarships to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in insurance.  Named after Roy Westran, former president of Citizens Insurance Company, chairman of Accident Fund Insurance Company, and past president of the Society of CPCU, the Foundation is now accepting applications from undergraduate students with a major or concentration in insurance, risk management, actuarial science, or with specific career goals in insurance.  This award is based on field of study, overall gradepoint average, co-curricular activities, and recommendations from a faculty member and an insurance professional.  Preference is given to students from the Great Lakes Region (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin).  2nd World Risk and Insurance Economics Congress moves to Singapore The World Risk and Insurance Economics Congress (www.wriec.org) Organization Committee has decided to move the venue for its Second Congress from Paris to Singapore. The Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA) hosts the 2010 Congress and has appointed its Secretariat, Singapore College of Insurance, as local organizer. The Congress will be held on July 24-29, 2010.  Please see the attached document for additional information.
