Les Strickler Innovation in Instruction Award 2009 Call for Proposals ARIA members and others interested in risk management and insurance education are invited to submit proposals detailing innovative ideas developed and used in risk management and insurance instruction. The deadline for proposals is February 27, 2009. Please see the attached document for additional information.
Kulp-Wright Book Award for 2009 The Kulp-Wright Book Award is presented annually by the American Risk and Insurance Association to the author(s) of a book considered to be the most influential text published on the economics of risk management and insurance. The author(s) of the winning publication will be presented with an award certificate at ARIA’s annual meeting. The Kulp-Wright Book Award committee is reviewing publications for the 2009 award. To be eligible for the 2009 award, the book must have been published in 2007. The primary contribution of the book should lie in the primary fields of risk management and insurance, and should appeal to a broad cross-section of persons concerned with the fields of risk management and insurance. If you would like to suggest that the committee review a specific book, please send the title, author(s), and publisher information to Etti Baranoff at ebaranof@vcu.eduThe deadline for submissions is May 15, 2009.
Journal of Risk and Insurance Special Issue Call for Papers The Journal of Risk and Insurance Special Issue Corporate Governance in Insurance and Risk Management in Relation to Recent Financial Crisis is accepting proposals. APRIA 2009 Annual Conference Call for Papers APRIA is accepting applications for its 13th annual conference at Peking University in Beijing, China on July 19-22, 2009. The deadline for submissions is February 13, 2009. Please see the attached document for additional information.
Western Risk and Insurance Association
The Western Risk and Insurance Association and The Southern Risk and Insurance Association announce that they will share sponsorship of the Journal of Insurance Issues on an equal basis beginning in 2010. The board and membership of each organization approved the proposal in 2008 and this year will represent a transitional year period to the January 1, 2010 effective date. Both organizations believe that a strong regional journal with support from a large base of subscribers and contributors will serve the RMI field well. Look for more announcements in the coming months.
