 ARIA 2009 Annual Meeting Call for Papers The ARIA 2009 Annual Meeting is scheduled for August 2-5, 2009 in Providence, Rhode Island.  The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2009.  Please see the attached document for additional information.

 

 APRIA 13th Annual Conference Call for Papers The APRIA 13th Annual Conference is scheduled for July 19-22, 2009 at Peking University in Beijing, China.  The deadline for submissions is February 13, 2009.  Please see the attached document for additional information.

 

 Hagen Family Foundation Travel Award for 2009 Applications are being accepted for the 2009 Hagen Family Foundation Travel Award.  Awards of up to $1,500 each will be granted to faculty and/or doctoral students who attend and present a paper at the ARIA 2009 Annual Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island.  The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2009.  Questions about this award should be directed to the Hagen Family Foundation Travel Award Committee Chair Dr. Andreas Richter at richter@bwl.lmu.de     Please see the attached document for additional information.

 

 RMI Academic, Research, and Profession Positions on ARIA website As a service to its members, ARIA provides this webpage to serve as a clearinghouse for job and career opportunities at academic, research, and professional institutions around the world geared toward individuals holding a Ph.D. related to risk management, insurance, actuarial science, and economics/finance. If your college/university has a position posted on the ARIA website, please let us know if the position has been filled and it will be removed.  You can send an email to the ARIA Executive Office at aria@cpcuiia.org Guidelines for posting job announcements on the ARIA website are:

 ARIA News Editor seeks members news ARIA News Editor Diana Lee is approaching the deadline for putting together another edition of the ARIA News.  Please send notice of events both professional (promotions, transfers, new positions, awards, articles/books published, etc.) and personal (engagements, marriages, births) that you would like published in the Spring issue of the ARIA News.  Please send announcements to Diana at diana.lee@pciaa.net by February 15.

 

 Call for Proposals for Research on Workers Compensation Issues The Request for Proposals is to identify parties interested in submitting a proposal for services relating to the analysis of long-term medical and disability costs in the workers compensation insurance industry.  Three copies of each proposal clearly marked Workers Compensation Loss Reserving Beyond Traditional Methods must be received by March 2, 2009.  Please see the attached document for additional information or you can contact  Louise Francis of Francis Analytics at 215-923-1567, or by email at louise_francis@msn.com

 

 The Geneva Association The Geneva Association introduces a new section dealing with the credit crises and its impact on insurance on its website at www.genevassociation.org   Articles, papers, and further background materials from a variety of sources including The Geneva Association’s own production, but also prominent contribution from insurance companies, trade associations, and other partners about the credit crisis and how it affects the insurance sector are available for free download at http://www.genevaassociation.org/Home/Credit_Crisis.aspx

 

 Wiley-Blackwell discount for ARIA members ARIA members are entitled to a 25% discount on Wiley products.  The Wiley-Blackwell discount applies to all Wiley products, not just textbooks.  Wiley publishes quite a few popular trade titles as well, including, among other things, the “For Dummies” series, Frommers travel guides, and Betty Crocker cookbooks.  Members can simply type in the code on the checkout page at www.wiley.com to receive the discount.  The code necessary to receive the discount is SOC10.
