Les Strickler Innovation in Instruction Award 2009 Call for Proposals ARIA members and others interested in risk management and insurance education are invited to submit proposals detailing innovative ideas developed and used in risk management and insurance instruction. Wiley-Blackwell message Wiley–Blackwell has been proud to partner with the American Risk and Insurance Association to publish The Journal of Risk and Insurance and Risk Management and Insurance Review since 2002. Two years ago Blackwell Publishing merged with the Scientific, Technical, Medical, and Scholarly division of John Wiley & Sons, creating the imprint Wiley–Blackwell. This merger created one of the world’s foremost academic and professional publishers and its largest society publisher. The technological resources and global reach that this merger provided have helped us to strengthen our already world-class service to our society partners and authors. However, as with the merger of any two large organizations, this process has not been without hiccups. Recently, in order to better service the societies with whom we partner, Wiley–Blackwell merged the former Blackwell and Wiley membership systems. Merging these systems was necessary, as it will allow us to more effectively concentrate our resources toward developing one system, improving service for all of our partners. As you have likely observed, this has not gone smoothly. Initially, members wishing to renew online were unable to do so; others received mislabeled receipts; and we continue to experience delays in mailing hardcopy renewal notices. We understand that this has caused frustration and we sincerely apologize. Our membership services team worked quickly to remedy the problems with online renewals and is working diligently to mail renewal notices as soon as possible. We remain delighted to have a strong relationship with ARIA and deeply regret any instance in which we do not meet the high standards of service to which we hold ourselves. We thank the ARIA leadership and all of its members for your continued patience and hope to have renewal notices in the mail next week.
