 Les Strickler Innovation in Instruction Award 2009 Call for Proposals ARIA members and others interested in risk management and insurance education are invited to submit proposals detailing innovative ideas developed and used in risk management and insurance instruction.  The deadline for proposals is February 27, 2009.  Please see the attached document for additional information.

 

 To:         American Risk and Insurance Association membership From:     Terri Vaughan, President Subject:  Notice of Forthcoming Election of ARIA Officers/Board for 2009-2010 ARIA’s Nominations Committee approved a slate of nominees for the forthcoming election of officers and directors.  The slate is listed below.  THIS IS NOT A BALLOT. According to ARIA’s By-Laws, “additional nominations may be made by any group of 20 or more voting members who shall prepare, sign, and forward their additional nomination(s) to the Executive Director of the Association within 30 days after the report of the Committee on Nominations is distributed.” This year’s election ballot will be sent electronically to all ARIA members who have paid their dues for the current year.  If you prefer to receive a paper ballot, please contact the ARIA Executive Office at aria@cpcuiia.org or call 1-610-640-1997.  Please be sure that the Executive Office has your current email address so you will have the opportunity to vote. The slate of nominees for the 2009-2010 ARIA election of officers follows: President

 ARIA 2009 membership renewals Wiley-Blackwell has informed the ARIA Executive Office that membership renewals for 2009 will be going out in the mail on Friday, February 27.  Please complete the renewal form and mail payment to: Journal Customer ServicesJohn Wiley & Sons Inc.350 Main StreetMalden, MA 02148 OR  Renew online at http://www.wiley.com/bw/journal.asp?ref=0022-4367 Thank you for your patience and understanding while Wiley and Blackwell migrated their systems. Reminder:  In order to vote in this year’s election, do not delay payment of your 2009 ARIA membership dues.  Only current members will receive an electronic election ballot.

 

 Insurancecampus.org – Sign up now ARIA has established a presence on www.insurancecampus.org.  ARIA is listed as one of the 40 plus groups recognized by the site.  ARIA members are encouraged to join the site and the ARIA group, listed on page 3. The intent is to use the site to share ideas and ask questions of fellow ARIA members.  The first discussion topic asks what collaborative activities should ARIA pursue with organizations such as RIMS and the Spencer Foundation.

 

 President’s CPCU Scholarship 

The American Institute for CPCU is now offering 100 scholarships for the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation program.  The President’s CPCU Scholarship will cover the costs of CPCU textbooks, course guides, exam registration fees, and SMART Study Aids.  Please see the attached documents for additional information.
