By-Laws Amendment Passes ARIA’s membership recently approved an amendment to the By-Laws that will increase the composition of ARIA’s Board with the addition of two elected members. The two new Board positions will represent ARIA’s diversity of membership, including increasing numbers from other countries. The selection of these two representatives coincides with the election of officers for 2010-2011. Nominees for the upcoming Board election are announced below.

The slate is listed below. THIS IS NOT A BALLOT. According to ARIA’s By-Laws, “additional nominations may be made by any group of 20 or more voting members who shall prepare, sign, and forward their additional nomination(s) to the Executive Director of the Association within 30 days after the report of the Committee on Nominations is distributed.” This year’s election ballot will be sent electronically to all ARIA members who have paid their dues for the current year. If you prefer to receive a paper ballot, please contact the ARIA Executive Office at aria@cpcuiia.org or call 1-610-640-1997. Please be sure that the Executive Office has your current email address so you will have the opportunity to vote. Excellence in Teaching Award for 2010 This award recognizes excellence in risk management and insurance teaching. Applicants should have a distinguished record of excellent teaching throughout their academic career. The Excellence in Teaching Award is a non-monetary award and will be awarded only when an exceptional candidate is identified. The application and supporting materials should be mailed to Dr. Karen Epermanis at Appalachian State University. The application deadline is March 30, 2010. Please see the attached documents for additional information and application.
Hagen Family Foundation Travel Award for 2010 Applications are now being accepted for the Hagen Family Foundation Travel Award. Awards of up to $1,500 each will be granted to faculty and/or doctoral students who attend and present a paper at the 2010 World Risk and Insurance Economics Congress (WRIEC) July 25-29 in Singapore. The application deadline is March 19, 2010. Please see the attached document for additional information. Sixth International Longevity Risk & Capital Markets Solutions Conference Call for Papers University of New South Wales (UNSW) through the Australian Institute of Population Ageing Research in the Australian School of Business is hosting the Sixth International Longevity Risk and Capital Markets Solutions Conference on the 9th and 10th of September 2010 in Sydney, Australia at Swiss-Grand Resort & Spa, Bondi Beach.
