Greetings ARIA members: Today’s listserv contains the following: 

  • Wiley-Blackwell Publishing Online Library will launch on July 24 Insurance Information Institute (III) Insurance Handbook free offer
  • The American Association of Managing General Agents (AAMGA) University International Property & Casualty Insurance Summer School 2010 announcement

 

 Wiley-Blackwell Online Library Wiley Online Library will be the new home for the Journal of Risk & Insurance and Risk Management & Insurance Review.  This new service is built on the latest technology and designed with extensive input from the global scholarly community across the world and across the many subjects in which we publish. Featuring a clean and simple interface, this new online service will combine intuitive navigation, enhanced discoverability, expanded functionalities and a range of personalization options.  99.97% of all journal back content has already been successfully transferred to Wiley Online Library and new content is now being uploaded to both Wiley InterScience and the new platform.  Wiley Online Library will completely replace the Wiley InterScience website and all content and licenses will be transferred to the new site to enable seamless access for users and subscribers.  Journal home pages for all titles on Wiley Online Library will be improved and feature the option of customizable areas to share news, information and events. 

Following the initial release, there will be an ongoing program of development which will include many additional features and new opportunities for users to interact with the content.  More information is available now at: www.wileyonlinelibrary.com/info including a list of features, regularly updated FAQs, screenshots, online demos and more details about the new website for all users.  You can also sign up for alerts from this website to get updates on developments as they happen.

 

  Insurance Information Insurance’s Insurance Handbook

 

The Insurance Information Institute’s just released Insurance Handbook is a 196-page publication aimed at helping reporters, public policymakers, regulators, students, insurance company employees, and academics better understand how insurance works.   The Insurance Handbook begins with basic information on various types of insurance including auto, home, life, annuities, and long-term care.  The publication also includes issue briefs which provide overviews of the trends and developments shaping the insurance industry, from natural disasters to workplace safety.  Moreover, the glossary section contains over 500 concise explanations of insurance-related terms, and the handbook’s directory lists a wide range of insurance organizations, including national, state, and specialty associations. The III is offering a single print copy free of charge to ARIA members.  You can request a free copy by emailing madines@iii.org The print edition is available for sale for $20 per copy from http://www2.iii.org/store/index/cfm  with discounts available for orders of more than 10 copies. A PDF version of the Insurance Handbook can be downloaded free of charge athttp://www.iii.org/insurancehandbook

 

 AAMGA The American Association of Managing General Agents (AAMGA) holds an annual educational session held September 26-October 1 at Downing College Cambridge University in UK on a broad array of topics pertaining to US and international insurance industries.  Complete details are contained in this year’s brochure and registration materials.  http://www.aamga.org/files/IntlSummerSchool/intlsumschool10/AAMGA_IntlSummerSchool_2010.pdf.  We are pleased to offer students a special discounted rate of $1,000/student that includes all room and board fees for the entire week.
