Position Announcement, Editor of the Risk Management and Insurance Review (RMIR)
The American Risk and Insurance Association invites nominations for the position of Editor of the Risk Management and Insurance Review. The Risk Management and Insurance Review is published twice per year in March and September for ARIA by Wiley-Blackwell Publishing.
RMIR Editorial Policy
The Risk Management and Insurance Review provides a respected, widely distributed forum for the publication of (1) accessible, high-quality applied research and (2) well-reasoned opinion and discussion in the field of risk and insurance. The main distinction between the Review and its sister publication, the Journal of Risk and Insurance, is that the Review focuses on topics lending themselves to more immediate applicability in the spheres of business practice and public policy. Consequently, the Review carries a more institutional, policy-oriented flavor and is accessible to a broad range of academic and professional readers.
The Review’s “Feature Articles” section includes original research involving applications and applied techniques. Submissions may be theoretical, empirical, or conceptual in nature and are subject to an anonymous peer-review process.
The “Perspectives” section contains articles providing new insights on research literature, business practice, and public policy. These articles may be primarily scholarly (i.e., of a survey or historical nature) or may consist of opinion and discussion. Submissions to the Perspectives section are subject to editorial (and sometimes anonymous peer) review.
Articles related to pedagogy—the central “application” for insurance educators—are published in the “Educational Insights” section. The principal goal of this section is to provide a repository of high-caliber model lectures in risk and insurance, although articles discussing and evaluating instructional techniques are also considered. Submissions should be composed with an eye toward immediate applicability in the classroom setting and are subject to editorial (and sometimes anonymous peer) review.
