Call for Nominations
Though the 2012 ARIA election of officers is several months away, it is not too early to consider individuals who might be interested in serving on ARIA’s Board of Directors. Office is open to all ARIA members regardless of residence.
Three members will be elected to a three-year term on the Board. Nominations are also open for Vice President, although Board members whose terms are expiring are usually considered first for nomination for this position.
Names of individuals for consideration as possible nominees to the 2012-2013 ARIA Board of Directors should be emailed to Gene Lai at genelai@wsu.edu by February 12, 2012. The slate of nominees will be presented by Committee on Nomination to the Board for their approval and shared with the membership. Election ballots will be distributed to ARIA’s current members in April. Individuals who have not renewed their membership for 2012 can do so online at www.wiley.com or by calling Wiley-Blackwell at 1-800-835-6770.
Eastern Kentucky University
The Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems is accepting applications for a visiting Assistant Professor in Risk Management and Insurance beginning August 2012. Please see the attached document for additional information.
Wharton School University of Pennsylvania
The Center for Risk Management and Decision Processes at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania is accepting applications for one postdoctoral research fellowship position beginning Summer 2012. The application deadline is March 30, 2012. Please see the attached document for additional information.

Westran Insurance Scholarship Foundation
The Westran Insurance Scholarship Foundation was established in 1990 with a commitment to encourage and promote education in the insurance industry by awarding scholarships to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in insurance. Named after Roy Westran, former president of Citizens Insurance Company, chairman of Accident Fund Insurance Company, and past president of the Society of CPCU, the Foundation is now accepting applications from undergraduate students with a major or concentration in actuarial science, insurance, loss control, risk management, or with specific career goals in insurance.
This award is based on field of study, overall gradepoint average, co-curricular activities, and recommendations from a faculty member and an insurance professional. Preference is given to students from the Great Lakes Region (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin). The application deadline is March 31, 2012. Global Sustainable Finance Conference 2012
A two day international conference on Sustainable Finance | Greening Financial Institutions will be held from 5th - 6th of July 2012 in Karlsruhe, Germany. This event will bring together top executives and senior members of the financial institutions, policy makers, regulators, commercial bankers, investment and asset management executives, SME and Micro Finance professionals, sustainable development experts, carbon trade & finance specialists, academia, representatives of governmental organisations, multilateral and international development institutions and other market players engaged or interested in sustainable finance and greening financial institutions.
The delegates from around the world will discuss key emerging issues including: how the current financial, economic and environmental crises are re-shaping the financial industry; examine why and how to green financial products and services; and the role of financial institutions as strong partners in sustainable development. The conference offers an exclusive opportunity for deliberating on innovative ideas, emerging best practices and promising solutions that will help in making a business case for financial institutions to go green and advance our transition to sustainable economy.
