Greetings ARIA members: Today’s listserv contains the following:
- ARIA 2007 Annual Meeting information
Attention: ARIA Annual Meeting Attendees AV Procedures for ARIA 2007 Annual Meeting Each plenary and concurrent session at the ARIA 2007 Annual Meeting will have a notebook computer and LCD projector. The laptops will be IBM-based Pentium 4 with Windows XP and Microsoft Office (with Power Point). Overhead projectors will be available by advanced request only. Please inform the ARIA’s Executive Office at aria@cpcuiia.org by July 31 if an overhead projector is needed for your presentation. AV procedures for your presentation are as follows: 1. If you like, you can email your presentation to the ARIA Executive Office at aria@cpcuiia.org by July 31. Then your presentation will be loaded onto the laptop in your session for you. (Of course, good risk management practices suggest you bring a copy of your presentation file to the meeting.) 2. Alternatively, you can bring your presentation to Lee Gardner at the ARIA registration desk on a USB flash drive at least ONE FULL DAY BEFORE YOUR PRESENTATION, and ARIA will arrange to have your presentation loaded on the correct laptop in time for your presentation. ARIA does not have the staff to download and/or load your presentation onto a laptop on the day of your presentation, so please plan ahead!! 3. If you are comfortable in using your own USB flash drive during your presentation, you can bring this to the meeting room at the time of the presentation. (Please note that there is no floppy disk drive on the laptops in the meeting rooms.)
- If you plan to use an overhead projector, please bring your own overhead slides to the meeting room for the presentation.
Although the laptops have a CD-RW and DVD-R drive, we do not recommend these for your presentation because unless the disc is created absolutely correctly, it will not run on any computer other than the one with which it was created. The presentation can be burned to a CD-R disc, but if this is not done correctly, the presentation will be unreadable. (The most common problem in using discs and DVDs is that the discs are not finalized by the file preparer.) Dress Attire Dress attire for this year’s annual meeting is business casual. Special Dietary Needs If you have any special dietary requests, please contact the ARIA Executive Office at aria@cpcuiia.org as soon as possible. We will try our best to accommodate your needs. Accommodation Rebate for Non-Residents Some of you might question if your stay in Canada is eligible for the tax rebate because the annual meeting started after the effective change date of April 2007. The tax rebate is grandfathered to annual meeting attendees because ARIA contracted with the hotel and specified a block of sleeping rooms before September 25, 2006. Forms will be available in the meeting registration packets if you are interested in completing. Extra Meeting Handouts A table will be available near the registration area where extra handouts can placed for pick-up by individuals who did not attend your concurrent session. Loews Le Concorde Hotel Business Center There is a Concierge Business Center at the Loews Hotel. Please keep in mind their services are costly, so plan ahead to make copies of your presentations or other handouts. Job Placement/Resume Binder A resume and job placement binder will be available at the registration desk . A loose-leaf binder will be available to insert your resume or place information about a job opening. Use this convenient service to locate a job or fill a position. Any job opening announcement should first be approved by Anne Kleffner, Chair person of the Placement Committee. Anne’s email address is anne.kleffner@ucalgary.ca Please three-hole punch each resume or job opening. Meeting attendees should furnish their room number, cell phone number, or where they can be reached. Those unable to attend the annual meeting can email their resume or job opening to Anne Kleffner and a second copy to the ARIA Executive Office at aria@cpcuiia.org no later than Monday, July 30.
