Minutes of the 1994 Risk Theory Seminar
The 1994 RTS was held on April 29-May 1 in Austin, Texas at the University of Texas. The program consisted of eight papers presented by 12 people (16 co-authors in total with 4 unable to attend). Seven of the presenters were new (Eric Briys, D. Han Chang, Anne Kleffner, John Marshall, Kathy Petroni, Harris Schlesinger, and Francois de Varenne), the remainder being current members (Keith Crocker, Neil Doherty, Christian Gollier, David Mayers, and Clifford Smith). The seminar was hosted by Jim Garven who handled the local arrangements, and chaired by Cliff Smith, President of the 1994 Seminar.
After the 1994 Seminar there are 65 members. The membership increased by seven as indicated above and decreased by six (Eric Bond, Georges Dionne, Stuart Klugman, Henri Louberge, Blaine Nye, and Gary Patrik). Seventeen members must attend the 1995 Seminar in order to retain their membership (Jim Barrese, Dave Cather, Sam Cox, Dave Cummins, Robert Dansby, Steve D'Arcy, Louie Eeckhoudt, Gene Lai, Jane D. Nettesheim, Greg Niehaus, Norma Nielson, Dave Nye, Colin Ramsay, Anil Shivdasani, Emelio Venezian, Gary Venter, and Hong Yang). Two members not in attendance are lifetime members (Jim Chastain and Alfred Hofflander). 40 persons attended, 33 continuing members and 7 new members.
The business meeting on April 30 was conducted by Cliff Smith. The 1993 minutes were approved. Treasurer Mike Smith submitted a report that RTS continues to have a healthy reserve. Reminders were made to all presenters that travel reimbursement from RTS is possible by sending requests to Mike. Only North American travel is reimbursable, and only one presenter per paper may obtain reimbursement. A copy of the Treasurer's report is attached.
The 1995 RTS will be held in Atlanta at Georgia State University. Marty Grace will handle the local arrangements. The members voted to have the 1996 Seminar at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Mark Browne will handle local arrangements.
The election of officers produced: President-- Jim Garven; Secretary--Christian Gollier; Treasurer--Mike Smith. Cliff Smith becomes Past President and will select the papers for the 1995 RTS along with Garven and Gollier. |
