Minutes of the 1995 Risk Theory Seminar
The 1995 RTS was held on April 28 - April 30 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia State University. The program consisted of eight papers presented by 14 people (21 co-authors in total with 7 unable to attend). Seven of the presenters were new (Lee Colquitt, Anja De Waegenaere, Georges Dionne, Anne Gron, Jack Meyer, Michael Ormiston and May Weiss), the remainder being current members (David Cummins, Neil Doherty, Harris Schlesinger, Richard Butler, Kathy Petroni, Robert Hoyt, Louis Eeckhoudt). The seminar was hosted by Marty Grace who handled the local arrangements, and chaired by Jim Garven, President of the 1995 Seminar.
After the 1995 Seminar there are 57 members. The membership increased by seven as indicated above and decreased by six (Samuel Cox, Robert Dansby, Stephen D'Arcy, Jone Nettesheim, Colin Ramsay, Hong Yang). Sixteen members must attend the 1995 Seminar in order to retain their membership (Vasanthakumar Bhat, Eric Briys, Patrick Brockett, Han Chang, Scott Harrington, Yehuda Kahane, Michel Levasseur, Archer McWhorther, Glenn Meyers, Joan Schmit, Buddy Steves, Sharon Tennyson, Paul Thistle, James Trieschmann, Richard Woll, John Worrall). Two members not in attendance are lifetime members (Jim Chastain and Alfred Hofflander). 36 persons attended, 29 continuing members and 7 new members.
The business meeting on April 30 was conducted by Jim Garven. The 1994 minutes were approved. Treasurer Mike Smith submitted a report that RTS continues to have a healthy reserve. Reminders were made to all presenters that travel reimbursement from RTS is possible by sending requests to Mike. Only North American travel is reimbursable, and only one presenter per paper may obtain reimbursement. A copy of the Treasurer's report is attached.
The 1996 RTS will be held in Madison at University of Wisconsin. Mark Browne will handle the local arrangements. The members voted to have the 1997 Seminar at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Jim Ligon and Harris Schlesinger will handle local arrangements.
The election of officers produced: President-- Christian Gollier; Secretary-- Marty Grace; Treasurer-- Mike Smith. Jim Garven becomes Past President and will select the papers for the 1996 RTS along with Grace and Gollier. |
