Treasuer’s Report

Jim Ligon presented the treasurer’s report. The Alliance of American Insurers did not make a contribution in 1996. Marty Grace mentioned that presenters can be reimbursed for North American travel. Those seeking reimbursement should send receipts to Marty Grace or Mike Smith.

Site Selection

Site nominations for the 1999 meeting were made. The sites that were nominated and hosts follow.

The University of Michigan was chosen on the second ballot.

Officer Elections

The following were nominated to be secretary for the coming year: Rob Hoyt, Jim Ligon, Keith Crocker, and Richard Butler. Richard Butler was elected on the second ballot.

Mark Browne will be president during the coming year. Marty Grace will be past president.

Recognition of New Life Members

There are no new life members this year.

New Business

Jim Garven discussed the Risk Theory Society WEB site. Papers presented at the meeting should be sent to Jim Garven in electronic format so that they can be posted on the WEB site.

Jim Garven was thanked by the group for creating and maintaining the WEB site. Christian Gollier was thanked for his service as an officer.

Harris Schlesinger suggested that instead of a 5 page proposal those submitting proposals should be allowed to submit a full paper or a 5 page abstract. This was approved.

There was a brief discussion on limiting the 20 minute, no-question grace period allowed paper presenters.

Harris Schlesinger proposed that in the future the Call for Proposals indicate that the meeting is the "Meeting of the Risk Theory Seminar." The membership supported this proposal.

1998 Meeting

Rob Hoyt discussed plans for the 1998 Seminar of the Risk Theory Society. The meeting will be April 17-19 in Athens, Georgia.
