Call for papers: Conference and Special Issue in honour of J. David Cummins and Mary Weiss

The goal of the conference is to commemorate the great contributions of David and Mary to research and teaching in risk management and insurance. Both have had an incredible impact on our understanding of risk and insurance by producing innovative contributions in many domains.

A special issue of Risk Management and Insurance Review including a subset of papers presented at the conference will be published. The usual eeferee procedure of the special issue will be under the supervision of Patricia Born, Editor-in-Chief. Papers will have the standard peer-review process as for other papers in the Journal.

The conference format will depend on how the COVID-19 pandemic develops, but at this point, we plan to have the conference at Temple University in April 2022. The scientific committee of the conference is composed of scholars representing different avenues of research often related to the contributions of David and Mary: Patricia Born (co-chair), Georges Dionne (co-chair), Martin Grace, Scott Harrington, Robert Hoyt, Richard Phillips, and Sharon Tennyson.

Original contributions for the conference can be submitted by email to by September 15, 2021.

Please mention if your paper is to be considered for the special issue. In that case, please also submit your paper via standard submission procedure to Risk Management and Insurance Review by September 15 mentioning to the Editor that you would like your paper to be considered for the special issue in honour of J. David Cummins and Mary Weiss. The Scientific Committee will also consider shorter original papers for the conference only.
